TITLE: District Instructional Math Coach

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Five or more years of teaching experience in an accredited school; A

master’s degree or a bachelor's degree plus eighteen (18) additional hours; South Carolina professional certification in the subject area or grade level of intended support; Coaching experience preferred. Knowledge and use of the state's curriculum standards and assessment program; Evidence of extensive on-going training and professional development; Utilization of best practices in teaching

 

REPORTS TO: Chief Academic Officer

 

JOB GOALS: Assists teachers, principals and other staff in providing support and strategies to deliver a highly effective math program and develop programming to support the differentiated needs of learners in the area of mathematics.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1. Support and assist elementary, middle and high school instructional leaders with instructional math programs, scheduling and materials.

2. Collaborates and supports Coordinator of math and Instructional Team.

3. Lead sessions for school math coaches to identify and support foundational math components and instructional strategies for students to implement to increase student performance.

4. Support the District’s Math Coordinator and Instructional Department in implementing math goals and strategies to increase the performance of students.

5. Implement and model quality coaching strategies to support coaches and assist teachers with planning and delivering effective, engaging lessons using the research-based District 7 Instructional Framework.

6. Support classroom teachers and instructional staff using effective coaching practices.

7. Utilize data to inform practice, support and planning derived from assessments, observations, feedback and coaching conversations.

8. Meet regularly with school leaders and coaches to foster collaboration and ensure alignment between professional development and academic needs.

9. Demonstrate the effective use of research-based math strategies with the support of the district’s curriculum and South Carolina State Standards. Lead by example on how to effectively implement strategies.

10. Facilitate learning in classrooms and in professional development settings, utilizing math strategies to model effective implementation.

11. Ensure curriculum development and instructional support is data-driven and research-based to enhance elementary middle and high school improvement initiatives.

 

TERMS: 205 days; Salary to be determined

 

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in compliance with the Board’s policy on evaluation and professional personnel.
