Conducts extensive psychological examinations of students. Interprets diagnoses to school personnel, other concerned professionals, parents, and the student, and recommends corrective procedures. Makes recommendations on ways to assist a student referred for examination. Conducts individual, group, or facilitative therapy for students who diagnosed problem would benefit from behavior modification.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree in School Psychology required

  1. Holds a South Carolina teaching certificate with a school psychologist endorsement II or III
  2. Has experience in supervisory roles
  3. Demonstrates ability to support and evaluate school psychologists
  4. Possesses high moral standards and integrity
  5. Possesses strong oral and written communication skills
  6. Demonstrates professional and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with children, parents, school personnel and other members of the community
  7. Possesses ability to learn quickly and apply new technology
  8. Demonstrates strong organizational and management skills
  9. Demonstrates ability to prepare and disseminate written reports within required timelines
  10. Possesses the ability to travel to more than one work location on the course of the day if assigned to an itinerant position
  11. Possesses sufficient strength, agility, dexterity, and mobility to carry out all performance responsibilities

REPORTS TO: Director of Special Services

 

JOB GOAL: To provide psychological services to students, staff, and parents in Spartanburg County School District Seven

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Supervises and evaluates performance of staff level school psychologists
  2. Supervises school psychologists in selection of appropriate assessment instruments, reviews psychological reports and provides follow up support as appropriate
  3. Assists school intervention teams in developing appropriate interventions strategies prior to a referral for evaluation
  4. Selects and administers evaluation instruments to children referred for consideration for special education services or for re-evaluation
  5. Interprets test results to parents and school personnel
  6. Consults with school personnel, agency personnel and parents on psychological matters involving students
  7. Provides counseling services to students
  8. Provides training and workshops to students, parents, school personnel and school psychologists
  9. Serves on school-wide committees and task forces when requested
  10. Serves as a contributing member on school-based trans-disciplinary teams when appropriate
  11. Identifies, coordinates, and participates in professional growth activities for school psychologists
  12. Maintains accurate, complete records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation
  13. Serves as a learning consultant to school colleagues
  14. Serves as member of special education eligibility committees
  15. Performs other duties as assigned by Director of Special Services and/or school principal
