Rate and Method of Payment Teacher Substitutes: $125.00/day Teacher Assistant Substitutes: $90.00/day Substitute Nurse: $125.00/day Substitute teachers are not paid during the month they work; they are paid the subsequent month. Payroll is on the 23rd of the month but if the 23rd falls on a Saturday or Sunday, you will be paid the prior Friday. Example: If you substitute in the month of September, you will be paid on October 23rd. If you work in the month of October, you will be paid November 23rd.
